Since our 1968 beginning we have established a solid track record in litigation proceedings. Whether serving in the lead witness role on the issues of real estate damages in the Exxon Valdez oil spill litigation, damages claimed by the Cayuga Indian Nation over a 1795 contract, private ownership rights and values under the Hawai'i land reform act, insurance claims from countless asbestos cases, nationwide product liability cases, fraud and government corruption in property matters, or cases involving much smaller disputes, testimony is a core component of what we do. But only when it becomes necessary. We have worked with and against some of the nation's most respected lawyers and consistently held our own in this process.
More and more professionals are hearing a Siren's call to engage in expert witness services, too often lured by high fees, prestige, and a desire to get away from the drudgery of their usual work. Some prep themselves for this new service line by taking seminars and seeking certifications that appear to raise their qualifications. Many others just show up. There's no learning like doing and many get their best training on the stand. The results are too often like a Western shoot out where the bad guy wins. Sometimes both parties lose, as does the justice system. With our involvement in trillions of dollars of litigated matters, our experience is much deeper than those just getting their start in this field. Our work begins with developing the right and most defensible answers. And working with clients and counsel to learn and to educate.
An expert witness is only as good as the work they perform before their testimony.
